A little over 10 years ago, QC United took possession of our current indoor facility. It was brand new and marked the culmination of 18 months of intense work by the Club to determine, decide, and execute on a vision for the future of QC. In the decade-plus since then, the Club has overcome challenges large and small, growing into an organization that others look to for guidance and inspiration. Our staff and coaches deserve most of the credit of course, but a physical home that we control 24/7/365 has certainly been a key pillar of our success…
Here we GROW again!
On behalf of the QC United Board of Directors, I am thrilled to announce the Club intends to build a new facility on Park Street. The new turf playing surface (half-field) will be double the size of our existing facility and feature an elevated viewing area in addition to offices, change rooms, classrooms, and so on. Our new home will address our greatest challenge - managing growth. The Club is turning people away because we do not have the physical capacity to accommodate the demand.
I would like to dispel any fears we are “growing for growth’s sake” or we are focused on becoming as large as possible. Nothing could be more inaccurate. Rather, we expect this move to allow the Club to continue building on a culture of community, personal growth, accountability, compassion, and fiscal responsibility, so we can continue to fulfill our mission “to be the centre of choice for aspiring athletes through exceptional soccer experiences.”
This time around, we intend to become an equity partner (up to 25%) in the new building through an ambitious fundraising drive. There is no contribution too small - or too large - and tax receipts will be available. It is critical that we achieve this goal and put QC United on solid financial footing for decades to come.
Without a doubt, this is an ambitious plan that will have a significant and positive impact on the greater Regina area sport community - not just soccer. As many of you know, we have long-term relationships with a variety of organizations that rent our facility - this will be a boon for them as well.
On a personal note, I have been involved with QC United for over 15 years and I believe it is an exceptional organization - not perfect, but exceptional. The sense of community, the spirit of competition, the feeling of belonging and many other qualities critical to our success - these are the qualities we will ensure move with us to our new home.
Please watch for further communication shortly - and spread the word!
Sincerely,
Chris Bailey
